A marathon fundraising first for us and for Tom!

We’ve had a summer of fundraising activity thanks to the efforts of our Sussex University interns and other supporters. Tom Anson ran the Brighton marathon for us on 12th September – a ‘first’ for both him and us – and he has raised over £1,300.  Thank you Tom! We had a great day out supporting him to the finish in just over 5 hours. Michael Coates is doing the Thames 26 Endurance Swim in October.

It’s so good that the world is starting to open up again, although many places are still in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic and millions of children living in conflict zones and refugee camps are now feeling its effects.   We are constantly updating the materials within our Anxiety and Resilience Programme to reflect this, and the latest country where it is being used is the Yemen.

Over the summer we have delivered online CATT training of trainers to our two practitioners in Gaza and five in Uganda, based in two different locations. Once they have done their teaching practice in the Autumn they will become fully-fledged CATT trainers bringing our total world-wide to 24. The next training course we have coming up is PTSD awareness for people living around Lira in northern Uganda, where Sister Florence Achulo is working with many victims of child trafficking being resettled into their communities.
